Farm to School Procurement

Farm to School procurement programs support schools in the sourcing and purchasing foods from local growers and producers. Schools and school partners then promote and serve those foods to students. While these foods are often served in meals in school cafeterias, they may also be served as snacks or taste-tests in other settings, such as classrooms or after-school programs.

The OSU Small Farms program supports these efforts in a variety of ways, including:

  • Linking local growers and producers to school meal providers, which helps strengthen the local economy.
  • Helping local farmers identify which crops are missing in the food supply chain to Oregon schools.
  • Supporting farmers as they transition to growing the crops needed by Oregon schools.
