Fall and Halloween writing contest

Rules

The contest is free to enter. 4-H’s Writing Contest will be open from August 20th - Oct 31st 2021. The first-place winner in each category will have their story read on KMUZ Community Radio. For more information read this year’s guidelines below. Each writer may submit up to three entries to the contest. Use that however you want, for example, send one prose piece, or a short story and a flash piece, or send 3 poems, or 1 poem and 2 flash pieces, the possibilities are endless.  Please see the following ppt for some extra help : Contest 2020 Help 

Rubrics  

Send us your: 

  • Poems
  • Short fiction (1page max) 
  • Limerick (5 sentences)
  • Haiku (3 Sentences)
  • Two-Three sentence stories
  • Creative nonfiction (1page max)

Submission 

Baker County : as an attachment to [email protected], and put “Fall contest + [your name + category]” in your subject line.

1st place- The Darkness - short fiction

- The Darkness tells the story of a man who goes to pay his respects at Pearl Harbor and finds something monstrous has made the harbor it's home.

2nd place-My Last Trip -short fiction

- Read for the thrill and chill of a mission gone wrong and decisions leading to dangerous consequences. Crew loyalty comes into question and friends are suspected of murder in this space escapade.

3rd place- The IT had a Child and It's Me.- fiction

-Is the continuation of the famous novel I.T. by Stephen King. It follows the next generation of youth who encounter this other worldly monster. How will they handle this malicious presence?

4th place- Running Away -short fiction

- Read for the thrill and chill and find out what happens in this space mission gone terribly wrong
