Presentations Contest
4-H Presentations Contest -(under construction)
The Presentations contest is held in February and open to 4-H members aged 5-19. 4-H members present to a judge, using one of the following categories:
- Demonstration (show how to do something – great for new presenters)
- Illustrated Talk (use visuals/equipment)
- Speech (no visuals or equipment – challenging for experienced presenters)
- Impromptu (on-the-spot presentation)
This contest is the qualifying event for intermediate and senior members to compete at State Fair as well as, intermediate and senior horse project members to compete at the annual Spring Horse Classic event. Contest details will be updated annually. Primer on Presentations. The contest is open to all ages - 5 to 18. Cloverbuds, ages 5-8, will present but not for competition. Members ages 9-19, may give a presentation for participation OR competition. Categories for registration include demonstrations, illustrated talks, public speeches, impromptu speeches and the performing arts. Please refer to the Information Packet below for all contest details!

Presentation Contest Resources
A presentation is a way to share information with others, to teach what you know or have learned. While there are many types of presentations, 4-H materials concentrate on these four: demonstrations, illustrated talks, public speeches, and impromptu speeches. 4-H Food Preparation Contest
Overview
The Food Preparation contest is held in March annually and open to 4-H members aged 9-19. This event gives 4-H members a chance to prepare a food item in front of a judge. 4-H-ers can demonstrate their knowledge of safety, time management, nutrition, table settings, and preparation. Contest details will be updated annually. It is a fun and engaging opportunity to broaden your cooking and baking skills by with unique table setting, poster,and menu! Youth will also have an opportunity practice judging food items and a table setting display.

Registration
Registration is easy and online! Please read the Information Packet, then, fill out the Registration Form linked below and email it to Cheri Biskeborn. Cheri will contact you to confirm your time slot. If you have time restrictions, you may write them down on the Registration Form.
4-H Table setting Contest
The Table Setting Contest occurs during the week of County Fair. It is open to all 4-H members ages 9–19. The contest is a fun way learn how to:
- properly set a table
- plan nutritious meals
- express originality and creativity in choosing a theme
- present to the judge
- express knowledge of food, nutrition and food safety
Participants provide one place setting, including table covering, dishes, glassware, silverware, centerpiece and menu. Contest details will be updated annually.

4-H Favorite Foods Contest
The Favorite Foods contest is held in June and is open to all Baker County youth aged 9-19. Youth don’t need to be a 4-H member to participate. The contest is an opportunity for youth to prepare a favorite food at home. Participants will be interviewed by a judge who will taste their prepared food and recognize their efforts with a ribbon. Details will be updated annually.
All enrolled and active 4-H members are eligible to enter. It is a fun and engaging opportunity to broaden your cooking and baking skills by preparing a meal or food item during the contest and presenting it to a judge with unique table setting, poster, and menu! Youth will also have an opportunity practice judging food items and a table setting display. Please refer to the Information Packet below for all contest details!

4-H Flower Arrangement Contest
To participate in this contest, members must be enrolled in the Horticulture or Expressive Arts project area. Note that the final recorded time will include set-up, preparation, and cleanup from start to finish. Flowers will be provided by the 4-H and extension office. Contestants must preregister for a judging time slot. Contestants will have 45 minutes to complete their arrangements. The judge will then interview each contestant. The contest is open to Juniors, Intermediates & Seniors.

The flowers must be arranged in a vase with floral foam.

Participants must bring a typed commentary (100-150 words) to be read when preparing their arrangements. (see below)

This will be a one day event dependent on the number of youth enrolled.

Vases, containers, scissors, equipment or supplies needed for flowers is the participants responsibility to bring

The judge may also ask questions regarding flowers, region produced, or season when most plentiful.

Participants are expected to leave the work area clean. This will be part of the judge’s evaluation.

Registration for Food and flower arrangement contests
Registration is easy and online! 4-H Fashion Revue -(under construction)
Overview
The Fashion Revue 4-H activity link is designed to support the clothing, knitting, and crocheting projects and is held in April and open to 4-H members aged 9-18. 4-H members can walk the runway and showcase their clothing, sewing, crocheting and knitting projects. 4-H members are judged earlier in the day on their projects and then take to the stage for a free public viewing that evening. Contest details will be updated annually. This publication below describes some of the modeling positions, turns, and poses members may want to use when participating in Fashion Revue (sampled from Jackson County).
