Maintaining your certification
To keep up your Oregon Naturalist Program certification, complete:
- 8 hours of continuing education per year
- 40 hours of volunteering per year
Continuing education
There are many opportunities for continuing education, including natural history, scientific, and educational seminars, classes, conferences, and field trips in Oregon. And additional Ecoregion field courses. For example:
- Wildflower or bird hike focused on identification led by an expert
- Training through OSU Extension: Oregon Bee Atlas, Tree School, Oregon Season Tracker, Land Stewards, and other Master volunteer programs
- Evening lectures: Science on tap, science pubs, and watershed council meetings or presentations
- Training needed for volunteering: Some volunteering requires training in a technique or process.
Volunteering
- You can continue volunteering for the same group or try something new. It’s up to you!
- Please report all your hours, the first 40, and ongoing volunteer hours. Reporting your volunteer hours will help us show how we are making a difference. Thank you!
