Certification Requirements

Recertification for Master Gardeners:

20 hours of volunteer service, with at least 10 which fall under direct or indirect education hours, plus 10 hours of continuing education, 1 hour of which is Growing and Belonging focused, (30 hours annually), are due by October 2023 to re-certify.

Online MG Class Modules

Logging into the Online Modules

When the online course content is launched, you will receive an email from Extension Service via ideal-Logic, saying that your course is now available. This email will also include a link to log in to the same system that you used to register for the course (Ideal-Logic). If you can’t find that email or need the link now it is: https://apps.ideal-logic.com/osuextension

After you get logged in, it will open up to your Student Home. You will see the course name, and an orange Access Course button next to it. Click on the Access Course button, and you will be in Canvas, where you will access the course content.

Navigating Canvas Modules

If you have used Canvas for a previous class, make sure that you are in the correct class in the "Courses" tab on the top left hand corner of the page. New modules will open up each week for students to complete. Click the "Module" tab in the upper left hand corner to view the open modules. Complete all sections of the module. Quizzes can be found at the end of each module and under the "Quizzes" tab in the upper left hand corner. There is a quiz for each module.

Project Selection & Application Forms

Report hours with the Volunteer Reporting System (VRS)

All volunteer hours should be reported regardless if you have already completed your minimum requirements or if you are not recertifying. Reporting all of our volunteer hours shows the strength and commitment to education outreach and community support of the Jackson County Master Gardeners.
