If you can't make this class in July - it is being offered a second time in August for anyone who wants a second variety of fruit on an existing tree, Bud Grafting is as easy as it gets. Master Gardeners, Michael Johnson and Carl Heinke will take you step-by-step through the simplicity of bud grafting.

With a sharp knife, a piece of tape, and a bit of know-how, you’ll be able to clone multiple varieties onto existing trees. You will learn how to identify and select “fat” buds from current season growth, how to remove a bud, and then attach it to an existing limb or rootstock stem. The procedure shown will use apples and pears, but the technique is applicable to peaches, persimmons, plums, prunes, almonds, lemons, and limes.

Rootstock (apple and pear) will be available for purchase at $5 each

You’ll leave saying, “Why didn’t anyone tell me that grafting was this simple?” Please bring a sharp knife (pocket or grafting) and clean hand pruners.
