Coos County Master Gardener™ Program Scholarship Funds
The purpose of this scholarship program is to create opportunities to expand public interest and participation in sustainable, environmentally responsible gardening practices through education, promotion, and networking.
Scholarships are awarded by Coos County Master Gardener Scholarship Committee to further their education by obtaining a degree in a plant-related field. The field of study might include agriculture, biology, botany, entomology, horticulture, or landscape design.
Requirements for scholarship applicant (current college student)
- Completed application along with a current photograph
- Official college transcript(s)
- Two current (written within the current school year) letters of recommendation, dated and signed. One letter should be from an instructor.
- Telephone interview with Coos County Master Gardener Scholarship Committee during May.
- Identify all funding sources.
Requirements for Coos County high school graduate/equivalent applicant
- Completed application along with a current photograph.
- Official high school transcript or copy of your high school diploma or equivalent.
- Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better.
- Acceptance letter to a college or university.
- Two current (written within the current school year) letters of recommendation are required. One of the two letters should be from an instructor.
- Telephone interview with the CCMGA Scholarship Committee in May.
- Identify all funding sources.
Funding
Upon receipt of proof of acceptance at the college or university of the applicant’s choice, funds will be disbursed directly to the college or university business office and applied to the student’s tuition or books. A total of $4000 in scholarship funds were distributed in 2018-19 school year by the Coos County Master Gardener™ Association, with award amounts determined by the committee.
