This collection will explore recent trends and patterns in Oregon’s agricultural sector using data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) 2022 Census of Agriculture. The Census takes place every five years and represents one of the most comprehensive sources of information on the U.S. agricultural industry.
Much of the information published in the Census is available at the county level, allowing for a more granular analysis than is possible with most other USDA surveys.
Some of the topics that will be covered in this collection include:
- Total farms and farmland acreage
- Distribution of farms by size and value of production
- Farm real estate values
- Demographic characteristics of producers
- Conservation practice adoption
