Again for 2024 we will have mandatory spring tagging dates (see below). You will have the option to weigh your animals if you like on those dates while you are at the fairgrounds.
Important Upcoming Market Dates:
- July 9 at 6-7pm: Large Animal Open Weigh in - Polk County Fairgrounds Swine Barn
- July 9 at 6-7pm: Mandatory Small Animal Drive Through Certification
- Every small animal exhibitor and/or a family representative must bring your signed program release and let us know how many pens of rabbits/chickens and/or turkey's you have at the fair in the market program.
- August 6-10: County Fair (Auction: August 10 at 10am)
- Bring completed market contract
Important Market Documents
Market Program Rules and National Show Ring of Ethics – it is important that all exhibitors and parents be familiar with these rules. Please read them carefully with your parents. They will be ratified by the membership during the PCLA Annual Meeting after the first of the year. Changes/Additions from the 2022 rules have been highlighted in yellow. You will also find the link to all required forms within the rules as well as in this email.
Market Program Registration - You must register online for the market program prior to your in person tagging/registration date (see above). There is no need to register more than once, if you have more than one species, please just indicate that on the registration form. You can only register for one species unless you are completing a breeding stock verification form. **If you are planning on selling two animals as part of the Breeding Stock Exception, you must bring a Breeding Stock Verification form and your Production Records and/or AET records to Spring Weigh-in.**
Program Release - each 4-H/FFA member who enters an animal in the Market Program must turn in a completed and signed program release prior to attending their first market program event.
Contract Agreement - each 4-H/FFA member who enters an animal in the Market Program must turn in a completed and signed contract at the final fair weigh in. If your completed and signed contract is not turned in, your animal(s) will not be weighed in or accepted in the Market Program. Bring the contract with you to the fair weigh in.
- Buyback Option Form - Only those animals designated “resale” by the ring buyer are eligible for buyback. “Buyback option” BUYBACK slips must be turned into the Market Committee during weigh-in. Buybacks are irrevocable. No live resale animals will be sold to any individuals other than their original owner.
- Feed and Cost Record Form - This form will help you understand what your project is costing you in total and per lb.
- Health records - This form will help you keep track of the health of your project animal.
- Auction Add on donations must be received either prior to the auction or onsite during the auction. Unfortunately, we are not able to process funds received after August 10. Here is the form that you can print and give to folks. They can send funds to the PO Box or they can pay through the square account linked on the bottom of the linked document. Again, we have to receive the funds by August 10
