Important Notes about Record Books and Mandatory Record Book Interviews:
- Record Books, Fair Entries Forms, County Medal Application, information, Special Awards, information, Senior Scholarships and Linda Leininger Award Application, will be turned into your club leader by July 1st..
- County Medal and Linda Lininger interviews will be held July 09th and 10th at the Malheur County Extension Office You must register in advance for an interview slot. Deadline to reserve your interview slot is July 1st! Please call the Extension office - 541-881-1417
Record Books
- Make sure you close out your record book from last year. If you attended any club meetings, participated in community service, sold an animal, etc. make sure to include it in your records."
- Market Animals: Members will need to complete both the feed and growth as well as the daily feed and growth paperwork for all market animals. They can be found on the state website under General Animal Science Records.
- Market Rabbits: If you are looking for market rabbit records, please use the same paperwork as above in addition to the small animal health record form.

- Cloverbud record books can be unique and do not have to follow a particular format. If you find a cloverbud record book from another county that you like, please feel free to use it! Why to Record Books?
The 4-H program has a long history of record keeping. Record books teach members valuable, lifelong skills in records, accounting, reporting, and written communication. In 4-H, youth have tracked their activities, events, profits and losses, skill development and learning experiences, within their record books.
4-H Record Books serve a variety of purposes:
- They give members an opportunity to reflect on their yearly work where they can measure their achievements and growth in their 4-H career.
- They encourage members to set goals, develop plans to meet those goals, and to shift gears in the face of challenges and obstacles.
- They unlock eligibility for 4-H scholarships, travel opportunities, leadership positions, and awards at the county, state, and national levels.
Recordkeeping is an ongoing, educational and fundamental part of a member’s 4-H experience! We strive to make this a positive experience for all youth!
