4-H Ambassadors

4-H grows future leaders. Did you know that many 4-H'ers have gone on to become President of the United States, governors, Congress members, legislators, community organizers, CEOs and CTOs, generals, and role models for millions.

Influential leaders who are also 4-H alumni include:

  • U.S. Presidents Jimmy Carter and Vice Presidents Al Gore and Walter Mondale
  • Astronaut Alan Shepard
  • First Ladies Jackie Kennedy Onassis and Rosalyn Carter
  • Thirty-two U.S. Senators, many Governors, and nearly 100 current and former members of Congress and Cabinet officials
  • prominent figures in entertainment (Julia Roberts, David Letterman), business (e.g., Orville Redenbacher), and technology (Andrew Bosworth, CTO of Facebook)

Many of these famous and influential leaders credit their 4-H experiences, skills, and knowledge of parliamentary procedure as contributors to their personal and professional success. What will 4-H help you accomplish?

Oregon 4-H Ambassadors

Challenge yourself to explore and build leadership skills! The Oregon 4-H Ambassador program has two levels: County and State. 4-H County Ambassadors are outstanding 8th-12th grade members. Please contact your local 4-H program for more information including requirements and job responsibilities.

The State 4-H State Ambassador team is a group of 10-20 outstanding Oregon 4-H youth. 4-H youth in the 9th-12th grades who are interested in rewarding experiences and opportunities to develop their leadership skills can apply.

Ambassador Applications are due by May 1, 2024. Check with your county Extension office for their submission requirements. Some counties will require you to turn applications into their county office. Other counties may request you to submit your application online. Applicants are interviewed at 4-H Summer Conference in June and the selection is announced.
