In rural communities it’s especially difficult to connect underserved youth to a career pathway in STEM fields. At the same time, there is a deficit of workers in those occupations. 4-H Youth Development, an OSU Extension program, and community partners annually bring students together with professionals for an annual Aviation Field Day and two day-camps to provide sixth graders an in-depth look at the aviation industry and an opportunity to engage in STEM subjects while doing something they enjoy. Oregon State University Extension puts information and expertise within reach of all Oregonians so they may thrive in their communities, be lifted by growing economies, and share pride in the flourishing ecosystems of Oregon.
