A major goal for our extension forestry natural resources program is to help forest owners learn about forests and also how to manage their forests uh to reach that goal we have organized an annual tree school event um starting out in clackamas county but now going statewide and it's really to help forest owners learn about forests from a to z because of covet 19 we had to start over again and and cancel our in-person preschool and turn it into an online series of webinars

we worked with all of our instructors and major collaborators the oregon forest resources institute uh the partnership for forestry education and many others uh to put on these classes and we covered you know the full range of common forest practices and and uh things that people need to learn to succeed in forest management tree school online has been an invaluable instructional tool for our family we've attended almost every session and incorporate what we've learned within the forests riparian areas and creeks of our 83-acre family forest from forest management tips to fish habitat restoration guidance

it covers the full spectrum of information well with goes to online certainly people miss in-person education but we also had a lot of great input about how people appreciated that we went forward with 3-school online in spite of the pandemic and also it made it more available for people that didn't have to drive all the way to locations so we actually ended up with many more participants in our online tree school over the year than we had in our big event in person and the youtube recordings and the resources for each class make a great library of resources for forestry education and i'm still amazed when i go out and visit with landowners how often they tell me about tree school and what they learn and how it helped them in managing their woodlands well if you're interested in taking tree school classes seeing what it's all about just look for a tree school online at the osu extension website you'll find a list of classes past present and future

A major goal for OSU Extension’s Forestry and Natural Resources program is to help forest owners learn about and manage their forests. Started in Clackamas County, Online Tree School now reaches statewide and beyond. Topics cover the full range of common forest practices and things that people need to learn to succeed in forest management. We actually ended up with many more participants in our online free school than our in-person event. And the YouTube recordings and the resources for each class make a great library of resources for forestry education.
