Join this fun class to discover easy-to-implement strategies for re-invigorating life in your soil and creating systems that cultivate joy in your garden. Learn how the plants we grow connect to the soil and organisms big and small around them. You will leave this class with actionable steps to help solve problems and an understanding of biological relationships that will help your garden thrive. Bring questions, garden puns, and a sense of humor.

Class will take place in Zoom format.

Instructor Biography

Rhianna Simes (Wry-anna Sims) recently retired from 10 years as an instructor at the Southern Oregon Research and Extension Center, where she developed the Land Steward Program and coordinated the Master Gardener Program. She earned a Master of Science in Education and Botany from Southern Oregon University in Ashland. Rhianna has worked in plant nurseries for 13 years, is a plant nerd who is passionate about local food, seed sovereignty, and making education fun! She lives with her husband and two young children outside Talent, OR, where they operate their own organic farm called Verdant Phoenix (verdantphoenix.com), which specializes in organic plant starts, basketry willow, perennial food, healthy soil, and natural farming.
