Biography
My research is focused on Lygus bugs and other secondary insect pests transmitting potato pathogens in potatoes. Specifically, I am investigating whether or not these insects are able to transmit Beet Leafhopper Transmitted Virescence Agent (BLTVA), Potato Virus Y (PVY), or Zebra Chip (ZC) to potatoes. Through a collaborative effort which includes entomologists, plant pathologists and molecular biologists, my goal in this study is to provide a better understanding of the role of secondary pests in agricultural crops that will complement existing IPM strategies to manage pests.
