Here we have an Austrian Pine that we're going to have to elevate because we need to be able to start bringing materials in through this access gate right here. This is something that's really just come up, and it's maybe a little bit more drastic than we want, but we're still not going to be taking off more material than it's healthy for the tree. So what I'm going to do is we're going to do some reduction cuts from the end to be safe, with our main goal being not to actually tear out bark at our final cuts and do damage to the main trunk.

Since I have a really nice pole saw with me, I'm going to use that first because it keeps me at a safe distance from the tree as I'm cutting. So here goes. This might be... well, you don't want enough to film all of this.

Here, the use of this pole saw is allowing me to keep a really safe distance from the area I'm working in. I'm away from the saw itself and I'm away from the falling material.

Now we've accomplished our goal of creating a corridor that will give us vehicle access, and all we have to do is go in and make final cuts, final proper pruning cuts on this tree, and we'll be done. And that's all we'll do to it for now.

If I have a pole pruner, I'm going to make those final cuts with that instead of reaching over my hands with the chainsaw.

That's it. So, what do you guys think? How's that look?

It looks nice. It'll be a lot easier to get through there, and you've still provided a lot of canopy is left, so it's not going to get too sunburned.

Okay, so there we should be done. Now we've achieved the access we need, and we have a properly pruned tree, and it really looks... doesn't look too bad.

Yeah, even to a professional eye at this point.

Okay, all right.
