Enjoying our Healthy Harvest

Nutrition Education Curriculum for 4th graders, from garden or market to the table. Participants learn how to select, clean and store produce, and make a simple preparation for sampling. Lessons can be adapted for all age groups. Includes High Speed Hand Washing lesson plan and supporting activities.

Enjoying our Healthy Harvest

The Enjoying our Healthy Harvest curriculum includes 30-minute lesson plans for 9 different fruits and vegetables: apples, blueberries, broccoli, carrots, corn, pears, pumpkins, raspberries, and watermelon. Designed for educators, the materials include learning objectives, directions, discussion questions, list of materials and suggestions for parent handouts. (Grade 4-adult). We suggest using the High Speed Hand Washing lesson plan first so the class can learn how to get their hands washed in 5-minutes or less! Food Safety lesson tips using the High Speed Hand Washing technique (pre-school through adult) are included. Create your own favorite local produce lesson with a Master Lesson Plan Template.

We are currently wrapping up revisions of the Resources page, the High Speed Hand Washing page and the Local produce template page. High Speed Hand Washing now has Adult Workplace materials with COVID-19 precautions. You can find Adult Workplace training guides for farmers, ranchers and supervisors in food processing or packing plants in English and Spanish. A training video produced in 2021 is also now available. Color and grayscale posters that illustrate the steps are available in English, Spanish or bilingual. In the fall of 2020, new posters, training video and lesson tips were created for preschool teachers, child care providers and learning pod leaders. K-2 teachers may also find these useful.
