Water-wise gardening conserves water and helps protect the environment. A xeriscape is a “dry scene” that uses very little water, but a water-wise garden includes any style that is designed to conserve water. Many attractive, flowering plants are drought tolerant. Some are Oregon natives, and others are from drier areas of the world. Key elements in water-wise design include careful soil preparation, thoughtful plant selection, and efficient watering strategies.
