Reforestation assistance for landowners who need to replant after wildfire

Because of recent huge wildfire losses, the availability of tree seedlings and tree planters is expected to be far short of what is needed over the next few years.

OSU Extension is working with Oregon Small Woodlands Association, Oregon Department of Forestry, U.S. Forest Service and other partners to assess the reforestation need and develop the extra capacity to produce tree seedlings and facilitate wildfire restoration.

We want to know who needs trees (and how many) in order to set our targets for aggregated seedling orders for people who have not been able to find trees. If you need to plant trees and have not been able to find seedlings, please fill out our online survey form online or contact your local OSU Extension forester. If you are interested in ordering seedlings through this program, please get on our list and we will contact you to confirm details.

Of course, the shortage of seedlings and tree planters will affect everyone who needs to plant trees, inside or outside the burned areas. As we develop the program to assist with the reforestation of burned areas, we also have the goal of addressing the perennial challenge of supplying seedlings for small woodland owners.
